QB Rankings

1. Aaron Rodgers - GB
2. Drew Brees- NO
3. Tom Brady - NE
4. Matthew Stafford - DET
5. Cam Newton - CAR
6. Peyton Manning - DEN
7. Eli Manning - NYG
8. Michael Vick - PHI
9. Tony Romo - DAL
10. Philip Rivers - SD
11. Matt Ryan - ATL

15. Joe Flacco - BAL
16. Matt Cassell - KC
17. Ryan Fitzpatrick - BUF
18. Josh Freeman - TB
19. Mark Sanchez - NYJ
20. Russell Wilson - SEA

Who to Watch: If Mike Wallace doesn't sign soon, Rothlisberger could slip. Vick and Romo are becoming big gambles.  Vick because of his own injuries, and Romo because of injuries to all of his receivers.  If Russell Wilson wins the regular season starting job, his athleticism and situation could make him a legitimate fantasy contributor.

26. Stevan Ridley - NE
27. Peyton Hillis - KC
28. Rashard Mendenhall - PIT
29. Rashard Jennings - JAX
30. Pierre Thomas - NO

Who to Watch: Rashard Mendenhall.  He will fly up this list if he is really healthy enough to carry the load early in the season.   Stevan Ridley is injured.  Patriots say it isn't a big deal, but be wary.  Doug Martin moves way down because apparently Blount's already recovered from his injury.  Another negative of MJD's holdout is that the longer he is out, the more time Jennings has to impress and carve out a bigger role for himself for even after MJD returns.  A Charles/Hillis handcuff could be a valuable commodity, as one will probably get hurt at sometime, making the other one a possible stud.  No one likes Shonn Greene anymore, but I think he could be a steal with Sparano as the new OC and a lack of competition for carries.  Willis McGahee could also be a great grab, as the offense should move the ball well with Manning at the helm and McGahee should get almost all the goal-line carries.  I like Bradshaw a lot too, but with Wilson looking good and there could be a significant split in carries, plus he's already dinged up.  Recent injuries to Jacobs and James might raise Gore's value, depending on their severity.  A lack of other options in IND make Donald Brown a possible value pick.  He could be a steal in the late rounds.  Cedric Benson could become fantasy relevant, and Ronnie Brown likely will be a valuable asset at the start of the year at least while Matthews is injured.

  27. Mike Wallace
  28. Jeremy Maclin
  29. Robert Meachem
  30. Kenny Britt
  31. Justin Blackmon
  32. Randy Moss
Who to Watch: Larry Fitzgerald really needs a QB.  I wish AZ would trade for Hassellbeck, or Garrard, or Colt McCoy, or just about anyone.  Decker or Thomas could be a steal with Manning throwing to them.  Britt could be a stud again if he's healthy and can stay out of trouble, but neither of those things ever happen.  DeSean Jackson could sneak up with a bounce back year.  With Gronkowski, Hernandez, and Lloyd now added to the mix, Welker's catches could go down. Greg Jennings' concussion has to worry you a little.  One more and he could have to miss significant time during the season. Blackmon looked fantastic in his first pre-season game.  Dez Bryant's knee tendinitis is a big problem, since one of his weakest areas is usually conditioning.  But his talent and potential are still off the charts, so hard to drop him too far down the list.

Draft Strategies

Based on draft trends I notice, I'll add tips and strategies here from time to time.  The biggest factor will probably be whether or not you take an RB in the first round.  If you don't, and you find yourself weak at RB by the middle rounds of the draft, don't panic.  Shonn Greene and Donald Brown could be two really solid contributors this year and they can be gotten in later rounds.  Neither has any significant competition for carries on their teams, so if you're stacked up in talent at QB and WR they might be able to help you fill out a weaker RB corps so you can still contend for the title.  If you go the other way, and grab a stud RB early and miss out on the elite QBs, don't worry, there are tons of solid options at QB this year.  Peyton Manning and Jay Cutler are two guys who could put up great numbers and can be gotten after the top-tier guys are off the draft board.  I'm not a fan of Matt Ryan, but with his weapons he could be solid too.  And don't forget about Matt Schaub.  If he and Andre Johnson can both stay healthy, he's an acceptable starter for a team that is stacked at all other positions, and should be available pretty late in drafts, just be sure you have a good back-up for when he gets hurt.
